Woodgrange Medical Practice have been selected to host a primary care outreach team for Newham, Waltham Forest & Tower Hamlets for the Autumn/Winter Seasonal Vaccination Programme 2024/25.

On Tuesday 29th October (1:00 pm – 4:00 pm) they will be hosting a Winter Wellness Session at Tower Hamlets Town Hall. Please see the poster attached for more information.

You are eligible for both the COVID and flu vaccines if you:

  • are aged 65 or over (including those who will be 65 by 31 March 2025)
  • have certain health conditions
  • are pregnant
  • are a frontline health or social care worker
  • live in a care home for older adults
  • are frontline healthcare workers

Other care home residents, carers and people who live with someone who has a weakened immune system can also get the flu vaccine.

Do you need a vaccine for travel?

The following travel vaccines are available on the NHS from our GP Surgery:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Typhoid
  • Hepatitis A and typhoid combined
  • Revaxis (polio/diphtheria/tetanus)

If possible, see the Nurse at least 6 to 8 weeks before you’re due to travel.

Other things to consider:

The cost of travel vaccines that are not available on the NHS will vary, depending on the vaccine and the number of doses you need.

We now offer access to a self-management app to aid recovery from your muscle or joint problem. The app will guide you day-by-day through a sequence of exercises and tips to help you get better. To get started, click here or go to http://tinyurl.com/gub-sbo1142t1, select a condition, enter your email address and click send’

The app has touch to speak function, so it is accessible to all patients.

November Health & Wellbeing Activities

The Healthy Eating and nutrition workshops will restart next month from Monday 6th November 12-13:30 for 5 weeks, this cohort will run in Bengali and will offer an introduction to healthy eating.

 

Chronic Pain sessions will also be restarting in English from the 21st November 23. These are monthly sessions and will be delivered via TH Talking therapies for anyone who struggles with chronic pain.

 

Community Wellbeing HUB is  also piloting once a month Wellbeing workshops with TH Talking therapies at the Tarling East Community Centre starting Thursday 2nd November 11-12. The topics each month have been coproduced with their patients and community members. Anyone over the age of 18 can join these workshops.
